Mystery Quilt

To quilt is human...to finish is divine!!

Mystery Quilt

2024 QPOV Mystery Quilt Along

  • This year rather than a true mystery quilt we will have a Quilt-A-Long. You will be able to see what the finished quilt could possibly look like.  The mystery will be how you choose to complete the quilt.
  • The pattern is from Amanda Castor of Material Girl Quilts. It is the compilation of the instructions included in Layer Cake Sampler Quilt Along and tutorial posted on her blog in 2014. Link here .
  • She has given us permission to post these pictures on our website for our 2024 Mystery Quilt Along.
  • The complete pdf pattern can be purchased at the link below.  As of March 2024 it was $5. https://materialgirlquilts.com/shop/p/layer-cake-sampler-qal-pdf-pattern.
  • See more details in Fabric Requirements section at bottom of page.
  • Have fun making the quilt and please bring them when you return this Fall.  The quilts will be displayed in the 2025 Quilt Show!

Fabric Requirements:

2024 QPOV Mystery Quilt Along is made using 1 print layer cake and 1 background layer cake(or yardage)
The Fabric Requirements can be found here.

High level information on the Quilt Along:
  • 20 blocks – each needing 2 10” print squares and 2 10” background squares.
    • 1 print layer cake and 1 background layer cake (or yardage) will make all the blocks.
  • Each of the 20 blocks will have 3 layout options (Total of 60 different blocks)
  • All blocks are created with 16 - Half Square Triangles. HST are 4.5” unfinished
  • See Eight HST document above for Square sizes and directions.
  • The finished blocks sizes are 16” square. (80” x 98”) So it makes a rather large quilt!
    • If this is too large for your needs start with a smaller square to make smaller HST.
  • Clues will be posted on the website throughout the Spring and early Summer on the dates listed above.

We hope you will participate in this fun summer project and bring your quilts back in the fall. We plan to display these in
a special area of our 2025 Quilt Show
